Estee Returns!
Home is truly where the heart is, and one of MELC's own has returned home for the first time.
The months of June and July has brought many firsts and celebrations for Mariah Estee. However, the greatest gifts were the arrival of our school's namesakes. First came Mary Wilson who is the Mariah in Mariah Estee in June, to celebrate our birthdays with the school. She brought a breath of fresh air, knowledge, and expertise that advanced the progress of MELC in such a short time and made an impact on all stakeholders in our school. This being her fourth trip to the school, Mrs. Wilson was able to hit the ground running and lifted our school to new heights in the process.
In addition to Mrs. Wilson's arrival, there was a surprise gift given to our school in the person of Esther Asibuo Ramos or Estee in Mariah Estee. Mrs. Ramos' appearance was precipitated by anticipation and a renewed hope for the future direction of our school. She made an unannounced trip from Brooklyn, NY to Ghana with goals of supporting the school leadership and overseeing the progress of the school.
Mrs. Esther Ramos is a Primary School teacher in the Bronx, NY and has degrees in Music, Literature, and a Masters in Advanced Teaching, which she received in 2021. As a result of her graduation, she decided that it would be fitting to celebrate with the 6th grade graduates at Maria Estee in a momentous way. Look forward to reading about this experience in another blog coming soon. Mrs. Ramos describes her experience at Mariah Estee as "fulfilling her life's mission for Ghana," and she also states that she is "impressed with the level of rigor in each classroom and the critical thinking skills that students are developing."
While Mrs. Ramos' time at MELC was short, she vowed to return more consistently and frequently in order to monitor the continued growth of the school. She also hopes to bring with her more educators from the West to advance the mission of Mariah Estee to provide a strong balance of academics and the Arts.
